These Terms & Conditions explain what to expect before, during, and after your granite countertop installation. By approving your estimate or allowing work to begin, you agree to the terms below.
1. Scope of Work
We will fabricate and install granite or other natural stone countertops as outlined in your approved estimate, drawing, or invoice. Any work not listed in writing is not included and may result in additional charges.
2. Job Site Preparation & Homeowner Responsibilities
To ensure a smooth installation, the homeowner is responsible for making sure:
- Cabinets are fully installed, level, secured, and able to support the weight of stone
- Plumbing, electrical, and appliances are disconnected as needed
- The work area and access paths are clear and safe. Delays caused by unprepared areas, blocked access, or interference from other trades may result in rescheduling or additional charges.
While we take care during installation, we are not responsible for damage to nearby walls, paint, flooring, cabinetry, or finishes that may occur as part of normal installation.
3. Access to Your Home
- Please provide clear, safe, and uninterrupted access to the home and work area during scheduled installation times.
- This includes doorways, hallways, stairs, parking, and loading access.
- If we cannot access the work area upon arrival, additional trip or standby fees may apply.
- We are not responsible for delays caused by weather, building restrictions, or circumstances outside our control. Please ensure all snow is cleared on route for installer in driveway.
4. Pets, Children & Safety
For everyone’s safety:
- All pets must be secured away from the work area
- Children must be kept away during installation
Granite installation involves heavy stone, sharp tools, adhesives, and equipment. We are not responsible for injuries to pets, children, or occupants if access to the work area is not properly restricted. If unsafe conditions exist, we reserve the right to pause work until the area is made safe.
5. Natural Stone Characteristics
Natural stone is a unique material with inherent differences which make up its character and appearance. This means:
- Variations in color, veining, texture, shading, pits, and natural fissures are normal and not defects
- Samples and showroom displays are for reference only and may not exactly match installed stone
- Seams are often required and will be placed where structurally necessary and visually appropriate
- Surface finishes (polished, honed, leathered, etc.) meet industry standards, but minor variations may occur
Please follow the care and use guide for your type of stone.
6. Fabrication & Installation Process
- Templates, measurements, and layouts must be approved before fabrication begins
- Once fabrication starts, changes or cancellations may result in additional charges
- Installation will be performed according to professional industry standards
- We do not perform plumbing, electrical, or gas connections
7. Odors, Adhesives, Dust & Stone Cutting
During installation, you may notice:
- Temporary odors from glues, epoxies, sealants, or adhesives
- Dust or debris created if stone needs to be cut or adjusted on-site
These are normal and unavoidable parts of stone installation. While we take reasonable steps to minimize impact, we are not responsible for discomfort, allergic reactions, respiratory issues, or health concerns related to odors or dust, except where required by law.
We recommend ventilating the area and removing or covering nearby personal items if desired.
8. Cleanup & Dust Disclaimer
- We will perform a basic job-site cleanup upon completion, including removal of stone debris directly related to our work.
- Fine dust may settle on nearby surfaces, cabinets, or flooring, especially if cutting is required.
- Detailed cleaning of the home, HVAC systems, vents, or personal belongings is the homeowner’s responsibility.
- We are not liable for dust cleanup beyond the immediate work area.
9. Repairs & Existing Conditions
- Repairs to existing cracks, chips, or previous installations are done on a best-effort basis and are not guaranteed to restore original appearance.
- We are not responsible for damage caused by structural movement, cabinet settling, impact, heat, or conditions beyond our control.
- Cosmetic repairs may be visible and may not perfectly match surrounding stone.
10. Warranty
- Our workmanship is warranted for one (1) year for new granite or stone installation against defects caused by improper installation.
- This warranty does not cover:
- Natural stone characteristics
- Cracks caused by settling, movement, heat, impact, or misuse
- Seams, color variations, or normal wear
- Repairs, resealing, or polishing
- Warranty claims must be submitted in writing within 7 days of discovering an issue.
11. Payment Terms
- A 50% deposit is required before fabrication begins
- The remaining balance is due upon completion of installation unless otherwise agreed in writing
- Late or non-payment may result in fees, collection action, or withholding of materials
- All materials remain the property of Calacatta Customs until paid in full
12. Limitation of Liability
- Our total liability is limited to the amount paid for the work performed
- We are not responsible for indirect or consequential damages, including delays or loss of use
- The homeowner agrees to hold Calacatta Customs harmless from claims related to conditions outside our control
13. Acceptance of Terms
By signing below or approving work to proceed, the homeowner confirms they have read, understand, and agree to these Terms & Conditions, including natural stone characteristics, installation risks, odors, dust, cleanup responsibilities, and safety requirements.
